Descriptions of each coffee contained in this sample pack:
Ethiopian Heirloom (Light-Medium Roast)
This coffee is from the Guji Zone of Ethiopia. The coffees from Guji are wonderfully floral, sweet, and full of complex flavors. This new 2021 lot of Uraga is no exception. The coffees from this lot were grown in the forests surrounding Yabitu Koba, Larcho Torka, and Layo Teraga. The Kerchanshe washing station where our coffee is processed began over 15 years ago and now comprises 350 raised beds, supporting 1900 farmers and their crops each season.
Guatemala Señora (Medium Roast)
We are very proud to offer this delicious coffee from all woman-owned farms in Guatemala. This label features a blend from three independent farms and has the combined characteristics of brown sugar, roasted nuts, and fresh berries. In Guatemala, women are the predominant coffee farm workers, making up approximately 70% of the workforce from picking to exporting, while rarely owning the farms they work on. This blend is supporting a rare group of farms that are actually owned by the women who work on them. We are very excited to support these impressive women, as well as their families and communities.
Colombia Planadas (Medium Roast)
Robinson Olivera is from a family of coffee producers, and he has been running Finca Las Cuevas for the last ten years. Located in Planadas, Colombia, Finca Las Cuevas is named after a protected cave in the middle of the 3-hectare specialty farm. The cave is the property’s centerpiece, filled with banana and cane trees, all used as shade trees for the fragile coffee bushes below. Robinson operates the farm with his wife, along with ten additional workers during the harvest. We love this coffee for its wonderfully smooth and creamy body and complex flavor of apricot and honey.
