Descriptions of each coffee contained in this sample pack:
Ethiopian Heirloom (Light Roast)
This current lot of Ethiopian coffee beans comes from the renowned Yirgacheffe coffee-growing region of Ethiopia, Kochere, a small gem in the southern part of the country. A mere stone’s throw south of Yirgacheffe and approximately 250 miles southwest of Addis Ababa, this enchanting locale is where the magic of Ethiopian coffee comes to life. Kochere is adorned with washing stations, pivotal hubs where local farmers converge to process their carefully harvested coffee beans. The soil in t his region is rich in iron, infusing a distinct character into the beans, while the high altitude adds an extra layer of excellence to the coffee-growing process.
Guatemala Señora (Medium Roast)
We are very proud to offer this delicious coffee from all woman-owned farms in Guatemala. This label features a blend from three independent farms and has the combined characteristics of brown sugar, roasted nuts, and fresh berries. These three woman-owned farms include:
- Jovita Castillo, Finca La Joya Grande in Santa Rosa, Nuevo Oriente
- Rita Cohen, Finca Santa Rita in Fraijanes
- Sofia Plocharski, Finca Armenia Lorena in San Marcos
In Guatemala, women are the predominant coffee farm workers, making up approximately 70% of the workforce from picking to exporting, while rarely owning the farms they work on. This blend is supporting a rare group of farms that are actually owned by the women who work them. We are very excited to support these impressive women, as well as their families and communities.
Colombia Huila (Medium Roast)
This micro-lot coffee is from the Huila region of Colombia. Specifically, these beans come from the community of Las Mercedes, where a group of small coffee farmers pools their beans for export. Grown at over 5,000 feet elevation, this premium Colombian coffee has a unique flavor profile that includes notes of milk chocolate, cashew, and apple.
